Civic and Community

The Earth Sciences collection underpins many public facing activities delivered by the School of Earth Sciences, from displays and exhibitions to interactive workshops at festivals. Geological specimens, samples, maps and archive support a range of school curricular activities such as volcanoes, dinosaurs, natural resource management and environmental sciences. The collections can also be an informative or inspiring prop for discussions and workshops about pressing global themes such as climate change, biodiversity and evolution, ocean pullutiona nd acidification or evenitonemntal

School provision

Our outreach work focuses on raising aspirations across the diverse School communities of Bristol through a range of Outreach and Widening Participation activities. We are committed to offering young people the opportunities to explore and get enthused about earth and environmental sciences and related topics in an higher education setting.

Workshops: We work closely with The Bristol Dinosaur Project, a long standing and experiences science outreach initiative that aims to inspire young people to learn more about geology, environmental sciences and biology.

Sample loans: We also arrange short- or long-term loans to educational settings to support hands on teaching. Teachers can submit their enquiries here:
